McCluskey Tours (LLC) is a faith-based company committed to providing quality travel experiences. We host group tours, both domestic and abroad, partnering with leaders in the travel industry to give you adventures filled with wonder and joy. Our tours include everything you need: transportation, professional guides, first class/select hotels, comprehensive sightseeing, gratuities/fees, porterage, and most of your meals.
It has been said, “There is an unspoken bond you create with the friends you travel with.” We have found this to be true. McCluskey Tours focuses on one or two annual tours giving personal attention to those traveling with us. We enjoy experiencing our world and enriching friendships through the community of group travel. When you travel with McCluskey Tours, you tour with folks who want to make your experiences as smooth, carefree, and enjoyable as possible. When you travel with McCluskey Tours, you quest with those who seek to encounter the beauty, richness, and goodness of our world. “Each one of us could describe his or her life as a sacred journey. You are journeying from the beginning to the end, and what makes it sacred is that in the process of this journey you encounter the holy in various forms which, unless you have your eyes open, you might not even notice.” (Frederick Beuchner) Come journey with us. And keep your eyes open.
“And God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31)
History
There are certain things that make all McCluskeys… McCluskeys. Our love of family. Our faith in Jesus Christ. Our passion for community. We are early risers. Coffee. Laughter. And perhaps most pertinent, we love to travel. We hold ourselves to a high standard of quality and strive to meet that standard for every day of travel. We love to see the world and we want to share that passion with you.
Though McCluskey Tours was created in 2014, our founders, Jim and Lib McCluskey, discovered their passion for travel years ago. While pastoring Wallace Memorial Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, Jim and Lib would lead groups on domestic and international trips. Their first group tour was in 1971 to Israel, and leading group tours continued throughout their ministry and into retirement. Their travels took them and fellow tour members to England, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, Egypt, Jordan, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Bahamas, Granada, Venezuela, Quebec, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Alaska, Hawaii and numerous destinations within the continental United States. Today, Jim and Lib remain involved in McCluskey Tours, while the organization is now managed by their children, Jay, Michelle, and Ann.
Meet the McCluskeys
When asked how long they have been married, Lib always responds, “Not long enough!” Jim and Lib McCluskey were college sweethearts and married in 1953. They are proud parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Jim retired from full-time ministry in 1996 after serving as the senior pastor of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tennessee, for 37 years.
They are still sweethearts.
After marrying in 1983, Jay and Michelle McCluskey frequently accompanied Jim and Lib on their travels. In 2011, Jay and Michelle partnered with Jim and Lib as tour hosts, and later assumed primary management of group travel. Jay has served as the senior pastor of North Cleveland Baptist Church, Cleveland, Tennessee, since 1986. Michelle is a Family Nurse Practitioner in a rural health clinic in South East Tennessee. Jay and Michelle have shared their love of travel with their sons. The boys and their wives now frequently accompany Jay and Michelle on their travels. Do you detect a familial pattern?
